The goal was ensure services are working together instead of competing with each other,Stratford Mayor Martin Ritsma recently hosted a Stratford Transit Summit. Representatives included Stratford Transit manager Nathaniel Smith, Piettre Santoni and Eve-Daniele Veilleux of Via Rail and Metrolinx-GO’s Nicholas Day. Ritsma said collaboration is key to improving transit in the Festival City and talks were “exceptional.” “If people are using city transit and the GO Train leaves Stratford at 6:15 am, should we start our city transit a little earlier so one of the stops can be the at the train station for residents in town who don’t have a vehicle.? In a follow-up meeting, Ritsma hopes to bring together entities most impacted by public transit, including universities and colleges.
