Shropshire Council’s Severn Valley Country Park, The Mere at Ellesmere, and Stanmore Country Park have retained Green Flag Awards, marking them as some of the best-managed parks in the country for another year. The Green Flag Award is an international benchmark for well-managed parks and green spaces, recognising high environmental standards, maintenance, and visitor facilities. Sarah Marston, portfolio holder for communities and environment at Shropshire Council, said: “It is wonderful to see Severn Valley Country Park, The Mere at Ellesmere and Stanmore Country Park once again recognised with Green Flag Awards. Collectively, the three sites attract more than 500,000 visitors each year and aim to provide safe, welcoming spaces for recreation, socialising, and connecting with nature. Severn Valley Country Park hosts regular activities such as parkrun every Saturday and Nordic walking sessions every Wednesday.
