A former lieutenant from the Scarborough Police Department has been indicted for an alleged theft that occurred while he was employed with the department. A Cumberland County grand jury indicted Timothy Barker, 55, for Class B theft, according to a press release from the police. The police department informed the Maine Office of the Attorney General in December 2025 of Barker’s alleged conduct, and the office conducted a criminal investigation in the past few months. The town of Scarborough and the attorney general’s office said they would not make further comments about the allegations at this time. Class B theft is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.
