An American crow has tested positive for West Nile Virus in our region, prompting Northeastern Public Health to remind us to protect ourselves. West Nile can be contracted via mosquito bite, after the mosquito has bitten the infected crow. Public Health program manager Suzanne Lajoie says the risk of becoming sick is low, but symptoms can range from mild to severe. Residents who find a dead bird can report it to the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative at 1-866-673-4781.
