The team wanted to use a particular curse word in the game, but were told it wasn’t appropriate language for the Star Wars universe.
But Lucasfilm sent a note back to the developers explaining “characters in Star Wars don’t say ‘damn’.”
They say the characters don’t say it; they’re presented with evidence the characters do say it; everyone carries on.
Darrah, who didn’t directly work on the original KotOR but was around the team at the time, told FRVR that this was pretty typical when working on licensed products.
BioWare vet Mark Darrah worked on a huge number of the studio’s best-known projects, from the original 1998 Baldur’s Gate through to 2024’s Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and clearly saw some things.
