NORTON Lindsey CC’s promotion hopes suffered a potentially fatal blow following a 175-run defeat against Long Itchington. Long Itchington posted a mammoth 378-4 from their 45 overs at Wolverton Road which left Norton Lindsey in pursuit of 379 runs for victory. And Norton could only manage 203 all out in 36 overs despite the best efforts of the home side’s middle order who led a recovery effort. Norton Lindsey are next in action against Ashorne and Moreton Morrell on Saturday, August 15 with play to begin at 12.30pm at Ashorne Cricket Ground. Elsewhere, the club’s second XI suffered a six-wicket defeat away at league leaders Bretforton 2nds at Bretforton Cricket Club.
