The West Parry Sound Health Centre is no longer in gridlock. According to staff, the hospital returned to normal operations around 3 p.m. on Aug. 6. A ‘gridlock’ means all inpatient beds at the hospital are full, preventing emergency department patients from being moved to a bed, leading to overcrowding and delays. The hospital had been in gridlock most of Aug. 5-6. Staff said the Health Centre continues to experience high patient volumes, and that they are working hard to provide safe, timely care.
