An area restriction is in effect around the Hope Creek North wildfire near the Lardeau River, the BC Wildfire Service said. The wildfire was estimated at 511 hectares and was suspected to have been caused by lightning. The restriction covers Crown land in the vicinity of the wildfire and is intended to protect public safety. The restricted area includes land around Hope, Healy and Skinner creeks and is bounded in part by Highway 31, Goat Range Park Branch Road and Hope Creek North Forest Service Road. People are prohibited from entering or remaining in the restricted area without prior written authorization from an official designated under the Wildfire Act, subject to specified exceptions.
