ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Aug, 2026) Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar on Tuesday assumed charge as Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, with the status of a Federal minister, following notification of his appointment by the Cabinet Division on the directives of the President. Having a distinguished record of business success and public service, Haroon Akhtar has twice served as a senator and was elected twice as a member of the Punjab Assembly. Haroon Akhtar holds a Master of Science degree in Actuarial Science and Business Administration from the University of Manitoba, Canada. From 2015 to 2018, he served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue, with the status of a federal minister. Through these efforts, he has contributed to strengthening investor confidence, fostering industrial partnerships and promoting industrial development.
