['Shannon Lukens']
Steamboat Radio
Please see the following Guest Editorial from Marianne Capra of Steamboat Springs, regarding:Some abuse doesn’t leave a bruiseLast week, Steamboat Police Chief Mark Beckett gave our community a candid assessment of public safety.
Among the threats he identified was domestic violence, which he called “prevalent.”
Beginning August 12, Colorado’s HB26-1309, Abuse in Cases of Separation, changes how family courts evaluate domestic violence in cases involving children.
Importantly, the law recognizes something survivors have long understood: abuse is not always a bruise.
Taken together, they can form a system of power and control.
