Andy Boddington, Shropshire councillor for Ludlow North, is supporting a parliamentary petition calling for a nationwide ban on the cooking equipment. The petition, launched on June 15 by PR professional Marissa Pysarczuk, has gathered 17,314 signatures so far, meaning that parliament has to respond to it. It highlights the environmental impact and the risk of wildfires linked to disposable barbecues. Mrs Pysarczuk said: "We want the Government to introduce a nationwide ban on the sale of single-use disposable barbecues.
