Firefighters with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are currently keeping a wildfire north of Britt, on the east side of Highway 69, at bay. The MNRF Forest Fire Info Map indicates that the fire started around 2 p.m. on Aug. 10, it had grown to 0.5 hectares in size before firefighters were able to get it under control. According to Britt & Area Fire Department officials, Ministry ground and air assets were used to control the blaze. For more details, check out the Forest Fire Info Map.
