KP assembly marks national Minority Day with call for interfaith harmony

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Aug, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Tuesday observed National Minority Day with a special ceremony at its Jirga Hall, highlighting the contributions of minority communities to Pakistan’s development and stressing the importance of religious freedom and interfaith harmony.
The event began with the national anthem, followed by prayers representing different faiths, reflecting the spirit of religious tolerance and harmony.
Speaking on the occasion, Babar Saleem Swati said minority communities had made valuable contributions to the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
The Speaker reaffirmed that the KP Assembly would continue to support measures aimed at protecting the rights of minority communities, safeguarding religious freedom and strengthening interfaith harmony.
The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting to mark National Minority Day, followed by the national song.
