St Michael’s Church will celebrate the life and work of Samuel Sebastion Wesley, organist at four major cathedrals, including Hereford, Gloucester, Exeter, and Winchester. Born in 1810, Mr Wesley died in 1876. Sir Frederick Ouseley, who founded St Michael’s College in 1856 to raise choral music standards, was a contemporary of Mr Wesley. The event will take place on Saturday, August 15, at 4pm, featuring choral works by Mr Wesley performed by Amici Quorum. The event will offer an opportunity to enjoy Mr Wesley’s music in the setting of Henry Woodyer’s acclaimed church building.
