Art, colour and innovative technology are transforming daily life for residents at two Lloydminster continuing care facilities, where approximately $170,000 has been invested in quality-of-life upgrades.
The enhancements have been completed at Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre and Dr. Cooke Extended Care as part of the Quality of Life Chrysalis Project, a two-year initiative focused on creating more home-like environments for people living in continuing care.
MuralsAt both facilities, residents can now enjoy interactive murals, themed images and door wraps designed to support memory, social interaction and wayfinding.
Upgrades across Alberta Central ZoneThe Lloydminster upgrades are part of a broader $7-million investment by the Government of Alberta aimed at improving continuing care facilities across the province.
Through the Chrysalis Project, 26 continuing care facilities in Alberta’s Central Zone have undergone transformations inspired by the Butterfly Care Home Approach developed in the United Kingdom.
