Django Festival Allstars honor the legacy of French jazz guitarist and composer Django Reinhardt while modernizing it with broader jazz influences and stunning guitar virtuosity. The ensemble’s mission involves preserving Django’s tradition by mirroring his original string-only instrumentation — bass, violin, rhythm guitar, lead guitar and accordion, without drums or horns. The musicians view Django, who lived in a Gypsy caravan, as integral to Gypsy music. The Django Festival Allstars will bring a taste of Paris night life to Beaver Creek with swingin’ jazz tunes from the 1920s and 30s. As modern torchbearers of jazz manouche, aka hot jazz, Django Festival Allstars have performed in venues ranging from Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall to small clubs.
