A business in Onion Lake is among 12 Saskatchewan companies identified as victims of a large-scale fraud scheme targeting the heavy-duty trucking and transportation sector, according to the Saskatchewan RCMP.
Police say the victims include businesses involved in heavy-duty trucking and transportation services, such as automotive suppliers, tire shops and fuel distributors.
Tips – Verify a caller’s identityThe RCMP is urging businesses to be cautious when processing phone orders.
The RCMP says the investigation extends beyond Saskatchewan, with related incidents identified elsewhere in Western Canada.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim is asked to contact their local RCMP detachment or police service.
