Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick says GTA 6 has seen an “exceptional start” since pre-orders opened in June, describing the response as both “unprecedented” and “astonishing.” Pre-orders for Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated sequel opened on June 25, nearly five months ahead of its planned November launch. Players who pre-order digitally through the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store also receive one free month of GTA+. Take-Two has since pointed to the continuing decline of physical game sales as another factor behind the decision. The CEO noted that Take-Two and Rockstar still need to deliver on expectations surrounding what is easily the publisher’s most important release.
