After producing the finest offensive campaign of his NHL career, McAvoy must prove he belongs among the league’s unquestioned elite. His 61 points were also the most recorded by a Bruins defenseman since Hockey Hall of Famer Ray Bourque produced 82 during the 1995-96 campaign. That does not make NHL Network’s decision indefensible.
