A Father’s Day Build for the TrailsInventor Jake Laser built an off-road wheelchair for his father, Mark, who has lived with multiple sclerosis for around twenty years. He took a dog-like quadruped robot from Unitree Robotics and turned it into a moving chair, then gave it to his dad as a Father’s Day surprise this month. For someone who loved the outdoors before MS made walking difficult, the quadruped design opens up ground that a standard wheelchair cannot reach. The robot underneath the chair is a Unitree model built for tough industrial jobs, capable of carrying heavy loads and handling varied ground. Unitree makes advanced robots at a relatively affordable price and is preparing for a stock market listing in China.
