According to the Sheridan Research & Extension Center (SREC) ventenata and medusahead are two invasive annual grasses spreading across the West and threatening Wyoming’s rangelands. These invasive species reduce forage for livestock and wildlife, degrade habitat and increase wildfire risk. Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) is inviting the community to join the Wyoming Invasive Grasses Working Group for a free workshop designed for landowners, land managers, agricultural producers, natural resource professionals and anyone interested in protecting Wyoming’s working lands. Participants will learn how to identify these invasive grasses, understand the latest science, and explore practical management strategies for limiting their spread. According to the SREC, this year’s workshop also celebrates 10 years of collaborative work across Wyoming.
