In the Wool Room at the Ulster County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, Aug. 5, traditional fiber arts joined an atmosphere of international solidarity.
The event marked a major milestone in the ongoing Ulster County and Chernivtsi Sister Community Partnership.
The initiative draws strength from efforts led by county leadership, including Director of Arts, Culture and Open Spaces Sarah Kramer-Harrison and the Ulster County Legislature.
The event transitioned to a live virtual feed connecting the Ulster County Fairgrounds directly to Chernivtsi, Ukraine.
Providing real-time translation for the exchange was local Ulster County resident Halyna Shepko, superintendent of the Ulster County Fair Wool Room.
