A video shared online showing a dolphin alone and largely motionless inside a pool at Mediterraneo Marine Park in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq has sparked fresh concern over dolphins being kept in captivity in Malta. Similar concerns had already been raised during a 2023 protest, when activists symbolically recreated dolphin captivity using a small children’s pool to illustrate the contrast between an enclosure and the distances dolphins can travel in their natural habitat.
