ERA Marks Where Comino Trees Will Be Removed And Replanted
['Lovin Malta']
News - Lovin Malta
ERA stated that 624 non-protected specimens will be removed.
The Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) has marked where the trees and shrubs are set to be removed and transported as part of the Comino Hotel project.
54 protected trees will be removed, however ERA has obliged the Hili Group to plant 10 trees for each tree removed, therefore the Comino Hotel project will see 540 new indigenous trees being planted.
Any tree that does not get transplanted successfully will have to be compensated for with 10 new trees, another ERA condition on the Hili Group.
This comes after a wave of criticism that followed ERA’s decision to approve the tree removal permit.
