Hannaford Supermarkets issued the recall notice as part of a broader recall by jalapeno supplier Coast Citrus Distributors, associated with a multistate outbreak of Salmonella. There are no New Hampshire cases linked with the outbreak of Salmonella infections at this time. Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) typically causes diarrhea, fever, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps 12-72 hours after infection. In such cases, salmonellosis can lead to death unless the individual is treated promptly with antibiotics.
