LONG CREEK — The 723-acre Cottonwood Fire is now 45% contained after its start on Aug. 6, according to an Aug. 10 update by fire managers. The fire is burning 15 miles southwest of Long Creek and is fueled by grass, juniper and timber. Light winds will shift to northwest at 5 to 10 mph this afternoon, with gusts up to 15 mph.
