They defeated Toome in the league decider, 4-16 to 2-14, and Blackhill Emeralds now await the league winners in the opening round of the Junior Championship this weekend. People probably don’t give teams in Monaghan, especially Junior teams, enough credit. “There’s no game that you’re guaranteed you’re going to win, all the teams come out fighting and it sharpens our focus. “We set out to get a good league campaign and there was a good few young lads that came into the team this year,” Kelly added, reflecting on the season to date.
