A recent report from the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) found that Iowa hospitals and health systems provided over $1.4 billion in community benefits through more than 3.6 million patient encounters in 2025. The report also showed hospitals remained a major economic force in the state, employing 146,616 Iowans, paying $10.4 billion in salaries and wages, and generating $24.8 billion in hospital-related economic activity in 2025. IHA President and CEO Chris Mitchell says, “Every day, Iowa hospitals invest in the health and vitality of their communities.
