CNE Vice President Yaneth Hernández confirmed this week that organizing a national referendum by February is logistically viable. CNE President Tibisay Lucena said the constitutionality of the amendment proposal will be thoroughly scrutinized before receiving the CNE’s approval. Currently, Article 230 of the Venezuelan constitution says that the presidential term is six years, and the president can be re-elected once for an immediate second term.
