Carroll County Public Health, in partnership with local law enforcement, is hosting a Bike Safety Rodeo later this week to promote safe riding habits with area youth. The program begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, in the Westgate Mall parking lot, and will review the aspects of roadway safety on bikes, scooters, and other similar means of locomotion used by children, such as speed, proper signaling, understanding road signs, and more. Participants are asked to bring their bike our scooter with them for use during the approximately two-hour program, and will receive a free bike tune-up provided by the Iowa Small Engine Center. Additionally, the first 106 participants will also receive a free bike helmet thanks to generous donations from the Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC), St. Anthony Regional Hospital, State Farm Insurance, Blank Children’s Hospital, and the Carroll Lions Club. Again, the Bike Safety Rodeo will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Westgate Mall parking lot and is open to all children in the county.
