Kilmarnock awarded funding package for ongoing utility work

KILMARNOCK—The Town of Kilmarnock recently announced two funding packages for its ongoing upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), a $11.4 million project funded with a $3.15 million loan at 1/2% and another $8.27 million in grants.
Kilmarnock continues to reinvest in its infrastructure for the long term, according to a press release issued by town manager Susan Cockrell.
WWTP upgrades have been underway since early 2020, she said.
The project is organized in two phases in order to apply for a variety of funding streams.
The goals of the upgrades are to replace components at the end of their useful life, to replace components that are no longer supported by their original manufacturer and to improve nutrient removal efficiency to….
