“The school cannot pick and choose which student clubs get to exist based on whether they like the ideas being expressed.”
According to the lawsuit, 17 students filled out the posted online interest form for the GSA club.
After the backlash, Nice informed middle school families, and Boyd informed the School Board, that the GSA club had been “paused” to allow for further internal discussion.
On Nov. 17, 2025, the School Board adopted the revisions, which limited the organization of “non-curriculum-related groups” to the high school only.
The school division continues to allow a Yearbook Club, Robotics Team, Book of the Month, Beta Club, and Outdoor Club to operate at the middle school.
