Raytheon and Composite Energy Technologies demonstrated the submerged launch capability of HADALUS, a 34-foot unmanned undersea vehicle (UUV), during a U.S. Navy exercise, Raytheon announced in a statement. The vehicle completed a series of missions on a Navy undersea test range, including operations while submerged, the statement reads. The UUV uses a free-flooded carbon-fiber exoskeleton designed to support payload capacity while reducing vehicle cost. The effort included integration of the launcher, sonar, electronics, and other mission systems before the Navy exercise.
