In one of the announcement’s genuine surprises, Cannes stalwart Nanni Moretti returns to Venice competition for the first time since Palombella Rossa in 1989. In the new Films on Film strand, Luca Guadagnino unveils Joie de Vivre, his long-gestating, seven-hour documentary on Bernardo Bertolucci.
