DEEP invites public to comment on proposed farmers' markets at three state parks
['Jennifer Lambert']
NBC Connecticut
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is considering bringing farmers' markets to three state parks and wants to hear what the public thinks before moving forward.
The proposal would allow farmers' markets to operate at Fort Trumbull State Park in New London, Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, and Sherwood Island State Park in Westport.
The proposal is part of DEEP's Partnership in Parks Initiative, which was launched to explore new ways to improve Connecticut's state parks.
DEEP said that one of the most common suggestions from the public has been to add more food and beverage options at state parks, including farmers' markets.
