For the first time, President Donald Trump publicly acknowledged contractor error played a role in the peeling of the paint liner in the Reflecting Pool. In a social media post Sunday night, Trump said the contractor rushed to complete the job before July 4 but continued to push claims of vandalism. After more than $14 million was spent to change the color of the Reflecting Pool, the new liner began peeling off. Reflecting Pool fencing to remain in placeMeanwhile, the fencing around the Reflecting Pool was supposed to come down Monday, but those plans have changed. The National Park Service put out an update, saying the fencing will remain as work on the Reflecting Pool continues.
