With August well underway, experts have had the opportunity to comb through the data on what Waterloo Region saw in the skies last month, with figures showing it saw the second-warmest day for the region in 26 years. Soulis Memorial Weather Station at the University of Waterloo, which said that it was a hot, dry month of July as the region really pushed into the toasty summer weather. “The second half was not quite as hot, resulting in the overall temperature being one degree above average.” Even though there wasn’t a ton of rain comparatively, the year as a whole is still well above normal levels when it comes to overall precipitation. According to the weather station, 2026 has seen 601 mm of precipitation so far in the year, while the average is close to 100 mm less at 509 mm.
