Ned Lamont announced Friday that he's directing state agencies to help with repairs to the Nathan Hale Homestead after the site was vandalized over the weekend.
The next day, Connecticut Landmarks staff found that the homestead had been broken into, burglarized, and vandalized, according to officials.
“The Nathan Hale Homestead is a beloved community gathering spot and historic asset, celebrating the 250th anniversary of its construction this year,” said Robert Brock, Connecticut Landmarks’ Executive Director.
Lamont said that the homestead is one of the state's most "prized historic sites," and its preservation and continued operation are vital to telling American history.
