The Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian Ambassador Ali Chegini on Tuesday to formally communicate Caracas’ position. The Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran, for its part, has yet to comment on the matter. However, following the January 3 strikes, the acting Rodríguez government fast-tracked a diplomatic reengagement with Washington. In February, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning Iran’s response to the February 28 US and Israeli aggression. During the US-Israeli war against Iran, the acting Venezuelan administration manifested its “solidarity” with Washington allies Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
