A humpback calf tangled in fishing gear swims beside its mother Tempest, in waters near Greater Victoria Aug. 6.
(Fisheries and Oceans Canada/Facebook)A tangled humpback calf is swimming free thanks to a Victoria whale watching company.
An Eagle Wing Tours captain first spotted the calf tangled in fishing gear Aug. 6, travelling with its mother, known as Tempest, near the south coast of Vancouver Island.
The whale watching company said its vessel, manned by captain Lili, spent almost two hours in the area.
For the Eagle Wing captain and her guests, the experience was one they won’t forget any time soon.
