Prime Minister Holness Says Housing Policy Must Balance Needs of All JamaicansPrime Minister Dr. the Most Honourable Andrew Holness says the Government’s housing policies are being designed to ensure that public resources are distributed fairly across all segments of society.
Addressing the handover ceremony yesterday (July 29) for the National Housing Trust’s (NHT) Howard Avenue Apartments in St. Andrew, Prime Minister Holness explained the thinking behind the Government’s emerging starter housing model.
Dr. Holness said this balancing of competing needs is central to responsible governance and the equitable use of taxpayers’ resources.
Prime Minister Holness underscored that this is the principle underpinning the Government’s direction to the NHT to develop starter housing that better reflects the changing needs of contributors throughout their lives.
The Government’s broader objective is to ensure that housing policy remains fair, sustainable, and responsive to the diverse needs of Jamaicans while making prudent use of public resources.
