The California State Board of Equalization is inviting taxpayers, tax professionals and other interested Californians to participate in its 2026 Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights Hearing at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26. The annual hearing gives the public an opportunity to speak directly with the Board’s elected members about California’s property tax system, the Alcoholic Beverage Tax and their experiences with BOE taxpayer services. “Whether you’ve encountered a challenge with California’s property tax system, found something that works well, or have an idea for improving taxpayer services, we want to hear from you.” According to the BOE, comments gathered during the hearing help the Board and the Taxpayers’ Rights Advocate identify challenges taxpayers face and develop recommendations to improve taxpayer education, strengthen taxpayer protections and enhance BOE services. The Board encourages homeowners, business owners, tax professionals and other interested Californians to participate, saying public feedback plays an important role in improving the taxpayer experience statewide.
