An animal rights organization is sounding the alarm over Amgen’s relationship with a breeding company that supplies animals for laboratory research.
DxE, which organized the protest alongside several other animal rights organizations, is an international activist group founded 13 years ago by animal rights attorney Wayne Hsiung in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Founded by Marshall Gilman in 1939, Marshall BioResources began breeding ferrets and has since become the nation’s largest ferret breeder.
“The topic of animal research can create emotional responses that are not supported by science or experience,” Marshall BioResources told the Acorn.
DxE’s campaign against Amgen has continued since 2023, when the company purchased several dogs from Marshall BioResources for medical research.
