(Lake Cowichan Fire Department)The City of Duncan's fire department has sent a three-person crew to help with the wildfires in B.C. As of Aug. 6, Lake Cowichan firefighters had been on the night shift, firefighting in the Pear Lake fire near Clinton, and sleeping in the Cache Creek area. Lake Cowichan is just one of the region’s departments that have sent crews and trucks to other parts of B.C. Cowichan Valley Regional District Fire Rescue Services manager Glenn Cooper said that along with Lake Cowichan’s firefighters, crews from Malahat, Mill Bay, Cowichan Bay, North Cowichan, Ladysmith, and Duncan have all sent crews.
