CLARKSTON — Charley Bousho had a goal in mind with her Girl Scout Gold Award project – to educate others on the importance of U.S. flag retirement. Bousho added she is serving her seventh season with the Mackinac Island Honor Scouts through the Mackinac Island State Historic Parks. “It works to encourage local residents to dispose of American Flags properly by giving them on-island resources for flag retirement.” Flag retirement. “Learning about flag retirement is important because it shows respect for our nation and those who have served,” Bousho said.
