On Monday, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced that Jonah Koech, the 2025 USA Track and Field Championships 1,500m winner, has accepted a three-year suspension after his Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) showed blood values consistent with blood doping. The banUSADA said the samples “demonstrated values consistent with blood doping,” a conclusion supported by unanimous evaluations of Koech’s blood profile by experts. Koech went on to represent the U.S. at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where he finished 13th in the 1,500m final in 3:37.00. The top three finishers earned spots on the U.S. team for the world championships, leaving Kessler, the Paris Olympian, off the team. Koech has not raced since he ran at the world championships on Sept. 17, 2025.
