Southeastern Michigan Wind Ensemble presents “Americana” Aug. 23The Southeastern Michigan Wind Ensemble (SEMWE) will celebrate both America’s 250th birthday and the ensemble’s 10th anniversary with a unique musical event that combines a patriotic concert with a world record attempt at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23 at Clarkston High School. The current record of 239 piccolo players, held by the Capital Wind Symphony, is expected to be surpassed as more than 310 piccolo players from across the United States and Canada have already registered to participate. Piccolo players interested in joining the record attempt may still register for $15. The public is invited to experience this exciting afternoon of patriotic music and witness what promises to be a historic musical achievement. The Clarkston High School Performing Arts Center is located at 6093 Flemings Lake Road, Clarkston.
