The familiar Southern Bank sign on North Liberty Street has a new look and a new name. Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union completed the acquisition of Southern Bank on July 31. It marks Palmetto Citizens' first expansion into Georgia in its over 90-year history. The company acquired branches in Waynesboro, Sardis, Hephzibah and Gibson.
