Police have charged a Plato Center man with contributing to the delinquency of a minor after recovering a sports trading card valued at $12,000 that was stolen during a national convention, authorities said Monday (Aug. 10). The Rosemont Public Safety Department responded Aug. 2 to a report of the theft at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, which was hosting the National Sports Collectors Convention. Detectives recovered the stolen card and are making arrangements to return it to the owner, who has declined to press criminal charges related to the theft, according to police. “This arrest highlights the effectiveness of our camera system and the investigative assistance it can provide,” Rosemont Public Safety Lt. Joe Balogh said. “With the hard work of the Rosemont Detective Division, we were able to timely identify the subject and recover the stolen property.”
