Council backs feasibility study for transitional housing locations

The decision does not commit the city to developing transitional housing on any of the properties.
Instead, the sites will be evaluated as part of a Samaritan Center feasibility study examining potential housing models, locations, costs, operations and service partnerships.
The Samaritan Center is seeking grant funding for the study after the council approved a letter of support in June.
A transitional housing project would likely require at least a half-acre to accommodate residential units, common areas, administrative space, landscaping and parking.
She also said the Avenida Simi property had previously been considered by Habitat for Humanity for a multi-family affordable housing unit.
